Hello,
I'm assisting a customer to setup EMC email home for their MDS 9148 switches. Several documents indicate that no special license requirements are needed to configure EMC email home. And also several documents state that DCNM includes the Essential edition license.
We have installed DCNM 7.2(2a) and, after discovering the switches, we see they appear as unlicensed and a message that says that DCNM-SAN can not open unlicensed fabrics. In this condition we are unable to manage the switches and also unable to configure EMC email home. I'm attaching the screenshots for your reference.
Do we need to request .lic files in order to enable DCNM Essentials edition? Or how do we configure DCNM to allow us to configure EMC email home?
Thanks in advance for any input/recommendation.

Hello Gabriel,
EMC EMail Home works with DCNM Essentials as well as with switch/host licenses. EMC EMail Home is, however, restricted by the DCNM licenses for accessing switches on the fabric(s). Essentials limits you to a single fabric, and additional licenses would be needed for the switches or hosts for monitoring multiple fabrics.
There are procedure generators on https://support.emc.com for installing and configuring EMC EMail Home and DCNM. Additional Dell EMC-specific info (DCNM downloads, release notes, tools, etc.) can be found here: https://support.emc.com/products/27084_Connectrix-MDS-Series-Data-Center-Network-Manager
