Error disabled - bit error rate too high on MDS switch

I have been trying to perform an NDMP backup between A HP LTO5 Ultrium Tape Library and Netapp with the MDS switch providing the fabric.

However, everytime I initiate the job, I experience this problem.

Below are some of the outputs on the concerned FC Ports:

MDS-SW01# sh int fc1/27

fc1/27 is down (Error disabled - bit error rate too high)

Hardware is Fibre Channel, SFP is short wave laser w/o OFC (SN)

    Port WWN is 20:1b:54:7f:ee:e2:8d:00

Admin port mode is auto, trunk mode is on

snmp link state traps are enabled

    Port vsan is 2

Receive data field Size is 2112

    Beacon is turned off

    5 minutes input rate 0 bits/sec, 0 bytes/sec, 0 frames/sec

    5 minutes output rate 0 bits/sec, 0 bytes/sec, 0 frames/sec

      263045 frames input, 12907156 bytes

        0 discards, 0 errors

        0 CRC,  0 unknown class

0 too long, 0 too short

      4308477 frames output, 8677425352 bytes

        1 discards, 0 errors

2 input OLS, 2 LRR, 0 NOS, 3 loop inits

5 output OLS, 2 LRR, 1 NOS, 3 loop inits

Interface last changed at Mon Oct 13 07:36:46 2014

-----------------------------

MDS-SW01# sh int fc1/27 counters

fc1/27

    5 minutes input rate 0 bits/sec, 0 bytes/sec, 0 frames/sec

    5 minutes output rate 0 bits/sec, 0 bytes/sec, 0 frames/sec

    263045 frames input, 12907156 bytes

      0 class-2 frames, 0 bytes

      263045 class-3 frames, 12907156 bytes

      0 class-f frames, 0 bytes

      0 discards, 0 errors, 0 CRC

0 unknown class, 0 too long, 0 too short

    4308477 frames output, 8677425352 bytes

      0 class-2 frames, 0 bytes

      4308477 class-3 frames, 8677425352 bytes

      0 class-f frames, 0 bytes

      1 discards, 0 errors

2 input OLS, 2 LRR, 0 NOS, 3 loop inits

5 output OLS, 2 LRR, 1 NOS, 3 loop inits

1 link failures, 1 sync losses, 1 signal losses

9 BB credit transitions from zero

      32 receive B2B credit remaining

      0 transmit B2B credit remaining

0 low priority transmit B2B credit remaining

What could be causing the issue and what is the solution?!

Thanks.

Hi Quijarro_felipe,

Thank you for the response. I have changed everything that could be changed and the link appears to hold up.

Even hardcoded the the speeds on the ports on the MDS switch.

Thank you all.
