I have a design question related to FCoE and FC scalability. The idea is to provide additional FC and FCoE capable ports in the network on new 9318yx-fx switches.
As per documentation, we can run additional switches in NPV mode and they can proxy all FCoE and/or FC frames to the NPIV switch. The doubt I have is can we have a switch running in NPV and NPIV mode at the same time??
If you look at the diagram, leaf3 switches would have SAN connected on FC ports and ESXi hosts on ethernet/FCoE ports. This way leaf3 would need to run in NPV and NPIV mode at the same time.
any thoughts, ideas and opinions are appreciated.
