How to create 2 FC fabric with MSD9124 ?

Hi All,

My customer has a frame with two modules Cisco 9124E, 24 FC Ports. He plans to add to this FC infrastructure, 4 other switches Cisco 9124 .

My questions are:

• What are the prerequisites to create two FC Fabric
  
• Upgrade of existing licenses on Cisco?
  
• Firmware Update?
  
• Type of Licensing of four new switches?

HI,

Not sure what is meant by frame here.? Are these Blade server Enclosures like IBM or HP blade server with cisco 9124e small switch inside it..

If these are blade servers with cisco mds 9124e then it can be used as npv edge switch to connect to another mds npiv switch.

-usually it is a good practice to have same OS versions on both npv and npiv switches.anything after 4.1.x version should be fine.

-Blade server 9124 e offers:(DS-HP-FC-K9) (DS-IBM-FC-K9)

The base configuration with the purchase of the switch enables customer to use 8 internal ports and 4 external ports

                   -     Standalone MDS 9124 switch (DS-C9124)

                       offers first 8 port base licenses . Additional ports license can be purchase in chunck of 8 s

you can check on the switch which and how may port license is in use.
