Hi,

I'm trying to check if I the admin password/account that I have is a admin account or not.

The thing is that We need change the management ip's and we think that we don't have the right admin password so in case that we had problems we need to be prepared to reboot the switch and do the recover admin password procedure.

If there is a proper/easy way to check if you are using an admin account or not please, explain to me.

I tried this way (I don't know another way) typing : "show role" and I get this: (attached fie)

Thanks in advance.

Cheers.

The Cisco MDS 9000 switch comes with two predefined roles:

Network-admin is the role assigned to the predefined user called admin. The network-admin can perform any modification to the MDS 9000 platform. There are no restrictions on this user.

Network-operator is a predefined read-only role. The network-operator cannot make modifications to the Cisco MDS 9000 switch. There are no predefined users assigned to this role.

Hello,

Thanks for your help.

So, please, let see if I understand.

If I change the management ip in one switch and for some reason doesn't work my only way to change the ip again (to the previous/old ip) is connecting my laptop physically to the console/management switch port and login in with some account with a "network-admin" role and I would be able to manage the switch and configt the previous ip.

That is correct, sir?

Yes !
