Moving zones from between switches

I will be moving all exisiting connections from one MDS to another. They currently have a ISL between them, and no vsans defined on the target MDS. Do i need to create the same VSANs/zones on the target MDS or just create the VSAN only and do a merge?

You will simply do a no shut on the port that will be the ISL and that will do a merge. But that will only get the zoneset into the local memory of the new MDS. To copy it from memory to the running configuration, issue a zone copy active running vsan X. Please take a look at a webpage I made to describe this at http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/741/zoning_switches.pdf
