NON-NPV mode and Brocade Fibre switches

Can we setup the Nexus 5020 as a Fibre Director and remove our Brocade Fibre switches completely?

We would like to be in Fabric mode and not use NPV mode and manage the fibre domains & zones complely within our 5020s....eventually migrating all devices off the brocades and remove them from service.  We have been receiving conflicting stories that this may or may not be possible.

Is anyone connecting their Fibre Channel attached devices directly off the 5020s...no Brocade or other Fibre Channel switches?

We have an 8-port Fibre Channel module in each 5020 and eventually plan to connect directly to our Clariion CX3-40, Celerra NS40G gateway, and Recoverpoint Appliance.

Thanks,

     Paul.

5000's don't have to run in NPV, they can work as normal SAN switches.

These are not what I consider Director class switches however, and so I would not use them as such.  Best to uplink them to an MDS in my opinion and use them in either NPV or regular FC modes.
