We are simply trying to create a device-alias, which we have done many times before without issue, but now we are getting this error on commit: "zone: Device-alias enhanced zone member present"
switch-a# config t

switch-a(config-device-alias-db)# device-alias name macc_vdi-m-prod-10_a pwwn 10:00:00:10:9b:e7:19:b7
switch-a(config-device-alias-db)# exit

Any ideas what this is and how to fix it?
system: version 8.4(2d)
Thanks!

It seems I needed to run the commands from the "partner" switch.
This is our setup:
FABRIC-A --> switch-a & switch-2a <--I ran the same device-alias commands here and it worked.
FABRIC-B --> switch-b & server-2b
In the past I could run commands from either switch and it was fine. I have a ticket open and we will see what Cisco says.
I am also going to run a test on the B switches and see if I can run commands from either switch.

I have the same error on the same new firmware.
If you do the zoning on the "Principal" switch it will not generate the lock error.
Commands to find the Principal switch:
show fcdomain domain-list
show fcs ie
This is a firmware feature or error.
