Enabling POE+ on 2960S to support Axis P6535-E camera - need LLDP

Folks,

I purchased some 2960S-24PS-L switches to support some Axis P6535-E PTZ cameras. I had a heck of a time getting the camera to draw the 25500mw it required to properly power the camera and pan/tilt motor. I finally stumbled upon LLDP. I enabled LLDP's power management options and the video started to flow. Does anyone know what enabling LLDP will do to my layer 2 network?

FYI - I even set the camera interface's "power inline static" which should have provided the extra wattage to the camera, but this did not work.

Thanks,

Paul.

Enabling LLDP should not have any affect on your network. It's comparable to CDP, is port specific and doesn't communicate past the physical connection. In most platforms it can be enabled on port by port basis, so if you want to just allow it for the camera ports you have that option.
