Factory default settings on SF500-24p PoE Switch

Hi,

I am trying to reset to factory default settings a 24port SF500 Cisco Switch. When power is given, FAN Led is on but System Led is permanently blinking. I have tried following the Reset instructions but nothing happens when keeping the reset button (with a paper-clip) more than 10 seconds (i have tried up to 60 seconds). System Led keeps on blinking.

Manual says that Switch can be waiting for a DHCP server to issue a valid IP Address, but i have tried connecting a router with a DHCP with no success. It also says that if System Led is amber is due to a Hardware failure, but led keeps blinkng green at a pace of 4 blinks per second aprox.

I have also tried connecting via hyperterminal with the console cable but nothing on screen.

Any suggestions?

Kind Regards,

Marcos.

Hi Marcos, Thanks for using the Cisco Small Business community. Blinking Green status means default settings IP Address is assigned: "...When the switch is using the factory default IP address, the System LED flashes continuously. ..."

Have you tried setting your PC IP Address on the Ethernet port in accordance to the guidelines: [ If the switch is using the factory default IP address of 192.168.1.254, you must chose an IP address for the computer in the range of 192.168.1.1-192.168.1.253 that is not already in use.]??

You could be running into a hardware issue, but I would suggest trying again to connect a PC with a functioning Ethernet module to a port on the switch, configure the PC to IP address in Range of 192.168.1.1 - 192.168.1.253 (subnet mask 255.255.255.0) and see if that get's you in.
