Hello, I'm trying to set a default IP address in a new SG300-28. Default IP address points to 192.168.1.254.

When I try to create a new IP I'm loosing connectivity to it.

Any ideas?

Firmware version is 1.4.2.4.

Thanks,

Marcello.

Use a console cable :)

Hey, I tried to use a console cable. Switch is alive but all connectivity is gone.

Any ideias what to look to solve this?

Thanks,

Marcello

It might sound odd but are you on the same subnet once you changed the IP?

Hello Marcello,

That problem usually happens when either:

a) Your computer is on a different subnet than the one you just setup. (i.e., the switch is on 10.10.10.X and the computer is on 192.168.1.X).

b) You have two VLANs:  1 (default) & 2, and you configure the switch to use VLAN 2 as the default, that way your computer will have to be connected to a port that's using VLAN 2 as native (untagged) otherwise you'll lose connectivity to the switch and will have to reset it to regain access to it.

It seems like your problem may be related to case a). Please make sure that your PC is on the same subnet as the switch after changing its IP. If you're still having problems after that don't hesitate to call us at (866) 606 1866.

Have a great day!
