Hello Juan,
It is possible that both problems could be caused by the same issue. The ESW 500 series uses a smartport wizard. If you would like to test this, log into the ESW and under the main page go to the smartport wizard and change the port to 'Other'.
Often times the default is set to computer, which only allows one MAC address to register on that port. This will stop most switches from passing traffic and in this case will stop a second MAC address from your VM passing traffic.

Dear Robert:
Thanks for your prompt answer and advice. I'll change the port to "other" and keep you posted with the result.

Hi, the customer finally could change the port and test it. Now they donĀ“t have problems with multiple IP adresses in the same switch port but the link with the other 3COM switches still doesn't work. I will visit them tomorrow and will check the configurations and try the interconnection again.

Hi Juan,
Thanks for the update. When you are there, check to see if you can set the port speed manually. Either on the ESW or the 3COM.

Hi Robert, we may close de issue. Customer forgot to save the configuration changes before moving the switch from the lab to the server room.
