1 Gig sfp module on 10 gig SFP+ slots communicating with HP 1 gig SFP

Hi all,

1 Gig SFP module need to insert WS-C2960X-48FPD-L SFP+ up-link slots and other end having HP 3500YL with 1 Gig SFP. please advise it can be connect or not.

Hi,

WS-C2960X-48FPD-L comes with 2 10Gig (SFP+) only.  You can not use the 10Gig ports as 1Gig.

Q.    Can the 10 Gigabit SFP+ slots on the Cisco Catalyst 2960-X model support 1 Gigabit SFP modules?

A.     Yes. The Cisco Catalyst 2960-S models that support 10 Gigabit SFP+ modules can also support SFP modules that operates at 1 Gigabit.

My understanding is that SFP+ ports can support 10Gb but they also support 1Gb SFP's.
