Does anyone know what the pinout is for 1000BaseT cables?

Hello,
check this link:
Gigabit Ethernet RJ-45 Port Pinouts
http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/core/7301/7301icg/5418a.htm#wp1049402
It looks like the pinouts are:
1 - 3
2 - 6
3 - 1
4 - 7
5 - 8
6 - 2
7 - 4
8 - 5
Can you post a short note if this is correct ?

That is correct:
For a standard Category-rated cable cross the following pair, maintaining polarity:
Green <--> Orange
Blue <--> Brown
(which is the pinout you described above).
I found a mini-dongle at Fry's that is a GigE crossover adapter (all four pair) ~US$4.00. Easier to drag around than another cable.
Good Luck
Scott
