2 default gateways on a single network

I have a question that deals within a secure network.

We have a subnet that is routed by a Checkpoint firewall.

On this subnet the manager decided to bring in a second network into our secure network but instead of bringing it through the firewall he decided to place a 4 port switch and use an additional router.

This of course sets a second default gateway into the network.

I have tried to use a persistent route to get the new network and this work as long as it is an IP address. But here is where the rub comes in. This site will not give a static IP address to the menu items because they want to be able to change the address at will.

I set up a DNS server on that side of the network to resolve that but every time they chose a menu item it goes to the wrong gateway and I don?t know how to solve this problem.

If any one can assist I would be grateful.

Dennis

You might be able to use a round-robin DNS, a round-robin NAT, or perhaps HSRP / VRRP with split default gateways & VLANs.

You might be able to use a load balancer.

Much more information would be needed on how your network and software are set up.
