2960-X "no switchport" command missing from interface config mode

I'm trying to set up a routed interface on my 2960-X.

When issuing the "no switchport" command to put it into L3 mode, I receive the "incomplete command" response.

What am I missing here?

2960-X is layer-2 only.  If you want layer-3 you need 2960-XR

From the FAQ doc:

Layer 3 features with IP Lite feature set (2960-XR only)

Hi Reza,

the 2960 is capable of IP-Routing, but it's quite limited with for example only 16 IP-routes. I use them from time-to time as a "mini-core" when the budget is really limited.

With the right software, as you say you can do static routing for 16 routes.

However, it is still a L2 device.

Martin

To my knowledge, the 2960-X only supports SVIs, but no routed ports. It would be possible on for example the 3850.

The 2960 is a L2 switch, therefore it is not possible.

Hi, The 2960x switch does support the no switchport command. See the version I am running.
