3750G 24 IOS query

Can anyone please clarify if IP SERVICES WITH WEB BASED DEV MGR support IP routing? My current switch runs 12.2(50)SE3-IP-BASE-CRYPTO which does not support IP Routing tables. We need to implement IP routing and my support company tells me that we need to upgrade the IOS on our switch, which costs over £3000. I logged into my Cisco account and noticed that I can download the latest version of IP SERVICES WITH WEB BASED DEV MGR at no cost. Am I missing something?

Many thanks

IP Services License is need it for advance routing.  For example, if you need complete access to OSPF, BGP, etc... but if you simly need static routing, RIP, etc.. you don't need that license.

Have a look at this doc for difference between the licenses:

Many thanks for your reply. I am not an expert in 'switching' hence subcontracting to a third party. What we need to achieve is: forward all http and https traffic from an IP range to an IP address (a web filtering appliance) and in order for us to achieve this we've been advised to upgrade the IOS on the core switch. However the price for the license, over £3000 ($4700) seems a bit expensive, or is it about right?

The price is correct. It is around $4000, but this is a list price not discounted.  It depends on your relationship with Cisco you may get 30 to 40% off of the list price.  Talk to your sales guy about this.  Also, make sure you really need this license.

Thanks Reza for all your advice.

Licensing is a new format, if your 3750 is still using iOS that doesn't use licenses, then you simply can download the IP services or Advanced IPservices IOS, depending on your support contracts with Cisco, you may be able to do this at no cost.

Yes, IP Services supports full routing.

If you have the correct support contract, yet you can download an IOS image.

What you're missing is, on older code images, what you can download physically, and what you can download, and use, legally are different.  The cost you quote is to provide you the license to use IP Services.
