I noticed that, on a 3850 switch, that a "sh line" shows I have an AUX port on the system. However, physically I don't actually see it, only the console port. Does it actually exist, or is it a repurposing of the "con" port?
I ask, as It would be handy to have an aux port, as on a router, to do reverse telnet to other devices being set up. It appears you can't use the console port to do reverse telnet.

The 3850 series and most other platforms like 3650, 3750x, 3560x, etc.. don't come with AUX port.
You would need some sort of terminal server.

That's what I was thinking. but on the 3850, when I do a "sh lin", I get this...
#sh line
Tty Typ Tx/Rx A Modem Roty AccO AccI Uses Noise Overruns Int
0 CTY - - - - - 0 0 0/0 -
1 AUX 9600/9600 - - - - - 0 0 0/0 -
* 2 VTY - - - - - 36 0 0/0 -
3 VTY - - - - - 7 0 0/0 -
4 VTY - - - - - 0 0 0/0 -
5 VTY - - - - - 0 0 0/0 -
6 VTY - - - - - 0 0 0/0 -
7 VTY - - - - - 0 0 0/0 -
So, is this a vestige of router code that doesn't actually exist? I have this in the config...
line con 0
stopbits 1
line aux 0
stopbits 1
line vty 0 4
password 7 1511021F0725
login local
line vty 5 15
login

Correct. I tried it on another 3850 and that has the same thing. So, I guess its just leftover from other platforms as there is no actual AUX port. Only OOB and Con.

My assumption is, that is the USB port (the big one, not the micro-USB). My hope is to use it with an mircoUSB<-->USB cable for reverse telnet connection. This would be very nice.
