3850 factory rest not working

Hi All,

Was wondering if anyone has any insight for resetting 3850s to factory defaults using the mode button. I have a few that need to be reset (PW is missing) and the mode button isn't really doing anything. I found that holding down the mode button for 3 seconds gets the LEDs blink, which they do, however they won't stop blinking even after 1+ minute (article I found says they should stop after about 7 seconds).

Any idea?

When holding down the Mode button, can you get into ROMMON?

No it doesn't look like it will, I hold the mode button down and power on the switch it just boots up as normal.

Power off the switch and then power it back on whilst de-pressing the mode button for about 20 seconds that should do the trick?

No good unfortunately. when consoled in it says booting.... followed by initializing and testing RAM and then proceeds to boot.

Did you wait for the LED's to go solid before letting go of the mode button?

yes all the LEDs light up and then i let go, the SYST light goes amber for a moment then goes green

little late but way disable this ,  in bios u should be able see all the files, look for startup _config del it  do same running config,   now files might be hidden so u have find way to unhide them , also u change the reg to bypass all config files,  

so start up as new swich all u need do is save the blank config and reset the reg back to what was

del or rename running config and startup config in flash drive ,  when system starts up will report has no config file.  at this point u can save running conf to start up and then run setup command,  once done, save running config, to start up , doing this will remove all commands now u cant boot device or cant log in to it in rome dir flash dirve del start up config, now keep in mind running conf will have old data so u need find it del it as well, eather way will force sysyem back to 0 config . and by way i done this 15 times, as i was playing with some commands that lock me out of it ,  so i know for fack it works , i just love find out how break this
