Hi Gautam
According to the 4948 data sheet yes they do. Please see this link.

Thanks a lot for the quick reply Jon. But I see a reference only to support for promiscious port and community VLAN. I dont see any reference to protected ports or isolated VLAN's.
Even the Private VLAN Catalyst support matrix does not mention 4948 in the list. The link is http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/473/63.html
I am not sure now if it supports or not. Has anyone tried configuring private VLAN's on 4948??
Thanks a lot
Gautam

Hi
Sorry about that. After a bit more research i'm still not sure. The following link suggests it can
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/products/ps6021/prod_release_note09186a00807551fe.html#wp363642
what's interesting is that the doc states two way community vlans are not supported which is exactly the same info from your Catalyst matrix link for the 4000/4500. Also at the bottom of the link i sent it has this:-
Platform-Specific Publications
These publications are available for the Catalyst 4900 series switch running the Cisco IOS software at the following URL:
http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/cat4000/12_1_18/index.htm
?Catalyst 4500 Series Switch Cisco IOS Software Configuration Guide
?Catalyst 4500 Series Switch Cisco IOS Command Reference
?Catalyst 4500 Series Switch Cisco IOS System Message Guide
The 4500 can do private vlans which suggests the 4948 can too.
Have you tried configuring it ?

Hi Jon,
Thanks a lot for your quick reply again. Let me go to the customer's place and key in the private VLAN specific commands. As long as it supports Isolated and Promiscious VLAN, thats enough.
I will try it and let everyone know.
Thanks and Regards
Gautam
