Hi everyone,   Do I have to reset the switch after enabling jumbo frame support on 6500?  On some switch model documention its clearly documented that switch has to be reset for mtu change to take effect but I have not been able to find anything for 6500 so far.   Thanks regards.

Hi Jaimin,

you dont have to reset the switch after the MTU change, i myself did this many a times

Reset is required in lower end models not in 6500.

Thanks,

Ricky Micky

Pls rate if this helps

A reload is not required after enabling the jumbo frame support on 6500. It takes effect at the moment you set it.

Refer this document for further details:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps700/products_configuration_example09186a008010edab.shtml

which explicitly mentions the switches where a reload is required for the change to take effect.
