i need to know when i add two supervisor engine in 6807-XL , the two supervisor engine work together i mean it will aggregate the preformance or one supervisor engine work as an active and the other one is backup (works as fail over ).

A VSS is network system virtualisation that pool multiple cisco switches into virtual switch.

VSS or not, the answer is still the same:  Active/Standby.  

The ports on the standby supervisor card can be used but the performance ain't aggregated.

Hi,

I am assuming you are having VSS with two chassis and two sup and what will be the role for second SUP in chassis. If yes then using VS40 technology using VSS configured with two SUP modules per chasis and second SUP play a role of SSO standby hot , which means in event of failure active SUP the standby hot SUP will immediately transition to active role within subsec.
