8 unknown protocol drops , what does this mean ???

hi ,

on my router interface ,

i have the following by sh interface gi0/1 :

sh interfaces gigabitEthernet 0/1

GigabitEthernet0/1 is up, line protocol is up

my question is , whats the meaning of  

     8 unknown protocol drops

?????

is it danger ???

There is no danger :-)

it is caused by protocls not understood by the router/switch. like you may be receiving CDP packets and CDP is disabled on the interface.
