If "boot" is the hostname then you can issue the command "hostname router" at config mode.

Jose

This answer assumes that the issue is that the host name has been changed (and perhaps that is suggested by a strict interpretation of your post). And if that is really the issue then the suggested change is appropriate. But I assume that the issue is something else. I assume that the issue is that the router is in rommon (where "boot" is usually combined with the router name).

If the router is in rommon then how to fix it will depend on what caused it to enter rommon.

- perhaps it entered rommon because the config-register was set to 0x2101. If that is the case then the solution is to set the config-register to 0x2102.

- perhaps it entered rommon because there is an incorrect boot system command in the config. If that is the case then the solution is to remove the incorrect boot system command (and perhaps replace it with a correct boot system command).

- perhaps it entered rommon because there is not a valid IOS image in flash. If that is the case then the solution is to put a valid IOS image into flash.

Perhaps you can clarify which of these situations seems to be the issue.
