Hello, experts
i am learning stackwise, and i am building a stackwise lab with 2 switches. i have a question regarding stackwise, how do i know this stack member number is this physical switch?
stack#sh switch
Switch/Stack Mac Address : 0012.d904.9b00
H/W Current
Switch# Role Mac Address Priority Version State
----------------------------------------------------------
1 Member 001d.450a.e700 15 0 Ready
*2 Master 0012.d904.9b00 1 0 Ready
how do i know switch #1 is this physical switch?
thank you so much

Hi,
You don't that unless you mark the switches physically with host names.
So, for example; if you have 2 switches in a stack, you call the first physical switch at the top sw-1 and the second switch sw-2 and put a sticker on each switch. Now you can give the first switch at the top (sw-1) priority 15 and make it master and the other switch would be member. This way you always know the top switch is the master.
It that clear?

So, if you issue sh switch (as you did in you first post) you see in this case the first switch is member and if this switch is the top switch in your stack (physically) you call it (sw-2 member) and put the sticker in front of the switch. The other switch you call it (sw-1 master) and that is the bottom switch and so on...
And no, you can't change the member host name. The host name is the same for the entire stack.
