Hello,
I recently aquired an ASA5508X and currently have it up and running within our business. It is connected to a unmanaged switch, and all of our users can obtains IPs from the ASA, connect to network services, and everything is generally working well.
In the lab, I have an SG300, which is my first managed switch. I can connect via the web interface and the console, but I need a little guidance as to where to go from here. I have an older Sonicwall TZ series network appliance with a WAN connection and I've connected the SG300 to it, but I stymied as to where to take it from here. For this experiment, I would like the SG300 to act as the unmanaged switch described in the previous paragraph.
Thank you,

If I am understanding correctly you have an ASA5508 connected to an unmanaged switch and this is your live network. Now you want to replicate this in a lab environment using SG300 to function as the unmanaged switch. This would be fairly easy. You have all the ports in the SG300 assigned to vlan 1. Just connect the SG300 to your WAN device and connect other network devices to other switch ports. You would need DHCP etc to be running on your WAN device. This would pretty much replicate the functionality of your live network in your lab network.

The question is: why would you want to exchange the unmanaged switch for the SG300 ? The SG300 has lots of advanced features such as QoS, security, support for multiple VLANs, and many more. Since your unmanaged switch works well, I would ask myself first what your networking requirements are...
For reference, here is the user guide for the SG300:

Thank you for the response.
The reason is to learn something that may be of value in the future.
And, thanks for the link.
