Is AutoSmart Port independent of SmartInstall? What I mean is you can run AutoSmart Port and not run SmartInstall, correct?

Hi,
Smart ports:
=========
++ Auto Smartports macros dynamically configure ports based on the device type detected on the port.
++ When the switch detects a new device on a port, it applies the appropriate macro.
++ When there is a link-down event, the switch removes the macro. For example, when you connect a Cisco IP phone to a port, Auto Smartports applies the IP phone macro.
++ Auto Smartports uses event triggers to map devices to port macros.
Auto Install:
=========
Smart Install works only on switches that run 12.2(52) and later: 2960, 2975, 3560/3560E, 3750/3750E.
Smart Install is used to perform basic config to switch
Auto smart ports and smart install are different concepts.

Hope this helps

Hi,
Auto Smart Ports and Smart install are completely independent,and you can run both of them independent of each other.
SMart install and Auto install are also independent of each other..Actually smart install is a new and much better was of accomplishing config and image upgrade..It aborts the auto install on switch boot up,and use its own mechanism for upgradation
