BGP adjacency over vPC Peer Link on N7k

Is it permissible to create an iBGP adjacency between two N7ks over the vPC peer link using an SVI for a VLAN carried on the vPC Peer Link, or is a separate routed or L2 link required? Each N7k will also have an eBGP session to an upstream layer, so in the event of the loss of one N7k<>Upstream link/eBGP session, traffic could traverse the vPC Peer Link (via the iBGP session) and then egress via the other N7k.

The upstream devices are not attached using vPCs; they are single L3 links, so under these conditions should this be an acceptable design as the rule "if the packet crosses the vPC peer link, it may not go out any port in a vPC even if that vPC does not have the original VLAN" is honoured.

Cheers,

Matt

Hi Matt,

L3 SVI peering over the vPC peer-link between vPC devices is supported.

What is not supported is peering between a vPC peer and a L3 router over the vPC which is not exactly the same thing.

regards,

Riccardo
