Bringing "UP" a VLAN

Hi,

I have a lab that replicates our Core network consisting of 6 x C6880-X switches in a 3 x VSS topology.

I have VLANs on each of these VSS's that have been assigned layer 3 interfaces and are also installed into the VLAN Database.

In normal circumstances these interface should be in an "UP UP" state, however, currently they are all in a "DOWN DOWN" state.

Can anyone let me know what else is required for these VLAN's to come UP?

For example, is there communication required etc?

As an add on, nothing else is connected to this lab, it is the 3 x VSS and that is it.

Hello @CliveG,

The vlan is it tagged on a Trunk port?

Do you have an acces port attached to this id?

Best regards

Hi,

I expect this is the problem. Some are tagged to an upstream trunk and some are access but I do not have the equipment to connect.

So, my guess is that I need something connected to these ports to bring the VLANs UP?

Yes @CliveG !

Best regards

Yes in general the requirement for a vlan to be up is that is has at least one active device in an access port or that the vlan is carried on a trunk port.
