Hi,
my understanding is that if you enable “portfast” on the access ports, you should also enable “spanning-tree bpduguard enable”. We have some Cisco Catalyst C1200 series here now and I don't see any way to enable bpduguard there. it simply doesn't know the command. Can anyone confirm this?

- The 1200 series does not have the command whilst the catalyst 1300 series has (limitations of that model)
Have a look at https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/campus-lan-switches-access/Catalyst-1200-and-1300-Switches/Admin-Guide/catalyst-1200-admin-guide.pdf
Look for bpdu with find in the browser for alternatives,

I had already looked at that, but hadn't really understood it. The recommendation from cisco is to use portfast together with bpdu guard. But if bpduguard is not available, what is the recommendation for a small access switch with only one uplink ? “bpdu filtering” only filters the traffic on the Access ports but does not automatically disable it when a bpdu is received. I am interested in protection against loops Do you have any ideas? Thank you

- Because of the limited functionality for some of the smaller models , you need to acquire the 1300 series (e.g.) ; if there is a strong business need for the feature,
