What do you get when you enter the command "dir flash:"?

Hi leo,

rommon 18 >dir flash:

dir: cannot open device "flash:"

Thanks

VJ.

It's either

1.  the flash drive or the flash card is faulty;

2.  someone inserted the wrong CF; or

3.  someone deleted the CF

The quickest way is to eject the CF and insert it into a multi-card reader.  If you have a windows client, format the CF using FAT16.  Once format is complete copy the IOS from your client to the CF and re-insert the CF back to the router.

Otherwise, use this process:

Thanks for the details leo.

Not possible unless you have bootstrap version 12.4(13r)T6 and later.

Hi Leo,

i have checked the 64mb compact flash in the card reader

Non cisco brand CF's will work in C1841 ?

please suggest some CF brands that works with C1841,

Thanks

Vijay,

Non cisco brand CF's will work in C1841 ?

1.  Maximum size is 2Gb.

2.  Not all brands/manufacturer supported.  Try one and if it works, buy it.

3.  If it works, format with FAT16 on a Windows client, drop the file into the CF and boot the CF.
