C9200-24T replacement for 2960XR

We notice that the WS-2960XR-24TS-I has reached EOL this October 2021. So we are looking into an equal replacement and Cisco recommends C9200-24T, but I have a couple of questions.

(1) Do the  ports on the C9200-24T POE? POE might conflict with laptops we might connect to it. If they are POE, is there an option to not have that configured? (2) Are the fiber connector ports on the C9200 and the 2960XR the same and support the same fiber modules?

Hi,

C9200-24T is not a POE switch, however, C9200-24P is a POE switch. And no usually there are no conflicts with laptops if you connect them to POE switches. As for the uplinks, they are fiber and are modular meaning you can get 1Gig or 10Gig.

Here is the datasheet:

Ok thanks. That helps clear that up.

I'm looking at a transceiver modules GLC-SX-MMD= and GLC-SX-MM= for the original 2960 series. Would these modules work for the C9200 as well?

What are you doing with the 2960XR?
Are you doing any stacking?
Are you doing (or planning to do) any Dot1X?

Our application is that the 2960XR to connect multiple laptops to a common server. So all data the user generates on the laptop is saved on the server. We are planning to do stacking in order to connect to other networks of servers and laptops.

And no we are not planning to do Dot1X.

Stacking is also supported on the 9200 series. Just make sure not to mix 9200 and 9200L together.

The device you mention is not POE and if it were this it does not generate problems to connect a Host (computer) POE devices offer you a series of benefits if you want to connect devices such as telephones and cameras giving it electrical power
