Hi guys,
I have an old SG 300-28P that I am trying to set up for testing purposes, but for some reason, I cannot access it via the console cable. All I get is a black screen with a green cursor
I have performed a factory reset and can access it via the web GUI and telnet (after enabling it through the GUI).
I am not using the typical Cisco blue serial cable and using a grey one that came with a Ruckus switch. I have tried going from the switch console to my laptop with a rollover and a straight console connection from the switch to the console port of my desktop. I am using PuTTy with the settings suggested in the manual (115200, 8N1). I have also confirmed I was using the correct COM ports as per information through Device Manager.
For some reason, I cannot get it to work - I assume I am making a pretty trivial mistake.
Any suggestions?

Hello,
there was a similar problem on here a short while ago. The problem was actually related to the PC used to connect to the switch. If you have e.g. a laptop or another PC, try and connect with that...

As per my original post, I had tried it on two computers:
The switch has a DB9 serial connection for console.
1) my laptop - Surface Book 3 (serial-serial with a rollover serial-usb adapter)
2) my desktop - Dell OptiPlex 7040 (serial-serial cable)
and I just tried a third:
3) ~10 year-old computer (serial-serial connection)
Still no luck and have the blank screen with the green cursor.
A serial-serial cable has the pins inversed on the other side? or rather, I do not need a rollover if I am connecting from a db9 to db9 port using a serial cable? I was thinking it was a cable issue, but I have tried 3 different ones now.

My problem fixed by connecting the serial cable from switch to direct a computer, of you used a usb extender it won't work, also in order to support the driver of serail port you should use windows 8 or lower.
I have connect the switch directly connected a pc wohr serail cable, the pc which is running by w8 os. Problem got resolved
