Cat2960-48TT Vs. 2960-48TC

Guys,

I plan to use the gigabit uplink on a 2960-48TT to connect the switch to a Catalyst 3548XL. The 3548 will have a 1000-baseT gigabit module installed (WS-G5483. This is going to be an ordinary 1000-baseT uplink - no fiber involved. Is there any advantage at all to buying a 2960-48TC with the SFP uplinks?

Thanks in advance,

Ryan

Hi Ryan,

It comes down to the distance limitations, really. If the two switches are sitting next to each other, there is really no advantage in getting a fibre link between them. So if the distance between the two switches is less than 100m, you the 1000baseT link should be fine.

Hope that helps - pls rate the post if it does.
