Hi,

I have large network of LAN. having more then 100 cisco switches. on Access Layer i am using 2950. behind 2950 i have different WAPs (wireless access points)i.e. Dlink and linksys. some time my 2950 receives strom and flood from WAPs. i tried to find it out using different techniques like Ethereal and tupdum bt couldn't found the reason........in that time my ping response reaches 700 ms or more. in sh pro cpu , it shows normal activity even less then 10%. only 1 thing 1 find out that is IGMP packets...i put filter on 2950 then it tries to handle it even then it remain slow....please need experts advise...

Hello Soshomile,

have you tried to use storm-control ?

see

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst2950/software/release/12.1_22_ea11x/configuration/guide/swtrafc.html#wp1229877

this could help protect the switch and the network from flooding.

int type x/y

storm-control {broadcast | multicast | unicast} level {level [level-low] | pps pps [pps-low]}

Hope to help

Giuseppe
