Hello,
I have a Catalyst 2960 with a Cisco IP Phone 7911G.
My entire setup consists of these 2 devices and a laptop to serial into the switch.
I am attempting to setup and be able to send/receive energywise queries through the serial interface of the switch.
Are these 2 devices compatible? The documentation for energywise basically calls the entire thing plug and play, and I am having a lot of issues trying to get the switch and the phone to notice eachother.
Any advice would be greatly apreciated!
Thanks,
Kyle

Serial interface of the 2960???? Are you sure?
What IOS are you running?

The blue 'console' cable, not serial, sorry.

This IOS version supports EnergyWise. If you have the EnergyWise Orchestrator then you can specify how you want to power off your remote end device. Soon EnergyWise phase 3 will be un-veiled (possibly mid-July 2011) and this means that you can set power levels to "1" which causes the VoIP phones to go into hibernate mode. When, for example, someone comes in outside office hours and picks up the phone to make a call, the phone will boot up.
