Our company was sold 15 Catalyst 2960's along with 15 cisco MGBLX1 GBic modules.
When I plug them into the switch, I get the following error:
GBIC_SECURITY_CRYPT-4-VN_DATA_CRC_ERROR: GBIC in port Gi0/1 has bad crc
I tried using the unsupported transceiver command, and then I get the above error along with the following error:
PHY-4-UNSUPPORTED_TRANSCEIVER: Unsupported transceiver found in Gi0/1
I found one suggestion from cisco site to upgrade firmware. I did, same result.
I have found nothing else online on how to solve this issue.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks,
Jon

PHY-4-UNSUPPORTED_TRANSCEIVER: Unsupported transceiver found in Gi0/1
It's because the MGBLX1 SFPs that you purchased were not Cisco-branded. Google the error message for the workaround.
If you don't want this method then you need to go back to the seller and ask them to give you Cisco-branded SFP.
By the way, if you continue to use the MGBLX1 and TAC finds out about it, they won't support any issues you have with the MGBLX1.

They have the logo CISCO on them. How are they not CISCO branded?
I only started receiving the unsupported error when I entered the command "service unsupported-transceiver"
Before that, it was only CRC errors. The Cisco site says:
"Check the list of supported SFP modules for this version of the system software. An upgrade might be required for newer modules. Even if unrecognized, the module might operate but with limited functionality."
But I can't find this list for the 2960.
At this point, I'm just shooting for the latter half of the message, "might operate but with limited functionality."
Any help?
Thanks,
Jon

You're right. They are!
Or maybe NOT? Let me explain.
MGBLX1 is Cisco-branded ... but for Linksys. So Linksys maybe a Cisco company but someone's made the decision that unless it says Cisco (and not Linksys by Cisco) it ain't Cisco.
Sorry dude. You'll need to go back to your supplier and tell them that you need the following SFP modules that are supported by the 2960:
GLC-T (1000BASE-T)
GLC-SX-MM
GLC-LH-SM
GLC-ZX-SM
GLC-BX-D
GLC-BX-U
CWDM SFP
Below is the link to the Data Sheet for the 2960. If you scroll down to Table 15, it'll show you the supported SFP modules. You can take this document to your supplier in case they insist they sold you the right part.
