Catalyst 3550 trunk type for use with SA520

We mostly use small business products, so my knowledge of enterprise configuration is limited.

The entire network is a single LAN right now, all VLAN 1, but I'm about to reconfigure a network consisting of several Catalyst 3550 switches to work with an SA520 router and several AP541n access points.  I need to setup VLANs across the network so I can have a wireless guest network, VLAN 25.

I figure the trunks between the 3550 switches can be dot1q, but I'm not sure if this is correct or which trunk type to configure between the 3550 switches and the SA520 or between the 3550 switches and the 541n access points.

Thanks-

Hi

Are you 3550's being used as layer 2 only?

If so I would place place sub-interfaces on the SA520 for each vlan as that will be the gateway to the outside world, tag them down to one of the 3550 from there trunk off using dot1q to each 3550, only sending the VLAN's you want to each switch.

With the AP I would connect them to an access port on the 3350.  All security will be handled by the SA520
