We are in the middle of upgrading a lot of 6500's . We had an issue with one box when we first booted up that it crashed and reloaded , this using 12.2.33 SXI 5, been stable so far since 2nd reload.Had no issues before reload. In checking releases notes I noticed that cisco says boards with dfc modules "require" a 12.2.18 rommon version to work . Anyone know if this is just a reccomendation as all the boards came up ok and passed diags on a lower rommon version 12.2.14 . We have upgraded 4 boxes so far and all have the same dfc's with a lower rommon than what is so called "required" by cisco and they have all booted ok and passed diags . Is this anything to worry about going forward as it will require much longer outages if we have to upgrade rommon on all dfc and 10 gig boards as they are all the lower rommon version .

Can you attach the show mod output?

Hi Glen,
If the modules have booted up and are online, there will be no problem with a lower rommon version on the cards. In case there is a minimum rommon version required, the card would not boot up at all on anything lower.
Hope this helps,
Shashank
