How does a switch or router decide what IP address to give out via a CDP? I have some devices handing out an address that no one can connect to and it is causing issues with automated discovery & mapping.

As far as i know it is the IP address of the interface on the link.
In the case of a trunk link such as an 802.1q link it is the IP address of the native vlan. If the native vlan has no IP address it should be the lowest vlan interface IP address.

Is this true for routers as well as switches? My switches only have 1 IP, but my routers have many of them, and it is giving out an external IP via CDP to internal devices.
Any thoughts on how I can control this?
Thank You
