Cisco 1000v maximum vEth ports

Hi,

On this page:

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/datacenter/nexus1000/sw/5_x/release_notes/b_Cisco_N1KV_VMware_521SV313_ReleaseNotes.html

the maximum vEth ports per VEM is listed as 1000.  This corresponds with the increased scalability of the 3.1 release in August, 2014.

However, our VEMs report a maximum vEth port count of 300.  This is reported by the "show resource-availability vethports".

This is a brand new install (Essentials since a key hasn't been entered).  I haven't found any limitations described in the Essentials versus Advanced Editions that relate to this, so I'm guessing there is another reason.

Does anyone else see only 300 and not 1000 ports here?

Eric

I should have mentioned that this is on vSphere 5.5 (with latest updates), in case it matters.

I found the answer.  I'm kinda shocked I didn't see it at first, since I was reading everything but the data sheet, including release notes, documentation, etc.

This describes the maximum supported configurations in Essentials versus Advanced editions:
