Hello,
What I need help with is: Activating the SFP Module within the Cisco 2921 rack router unit. My company recently upgraded the internet from 100Mbps to a 1Gb speed and we need to utilize the SFP Module port on this unit. Our Internet provider increased bandwidth on their end and supplied us with the correct fiber module, however when connected the SFP port, it did not seem active (no light or flickering). I am under the impression I will need to manually turn that port ON through the console port or an IP interface. Can someone please help me get this switch on and working?
Also, is there software I need to install to do this?
Thank you!

Hi,
By default, on 2921 the copper ports are enabled. If you want to use the fiber, SFP port, under that interface try this command:
"media-type sfp" and then check for light on the interface. Also, are you sure that the provider's site is connected, up and running?

2921, even without any configuration, cannot support >200 Mbps.
