Cisco 3750 stackwise E and Non-E Stacking

Is is possible to stack Cisco 3750 E and non-E switches with the stackwise cables? Are both switches (E and non-E) compatable when stacked together?

Yes its possible to stack 3750x or g with 3750e.

however only stacking with 3750X or E will keep the stackwise in stackwise plus mode.

if you stack fx a 3750G then it will revert back to stackwise only and you will loose speed in the stack ring.

Thanks for your reply.

So the only feature I may lose is in the backplane speed?

Our use would be to use the 3750E’s 10GB uplink capabilities. We have a new site going up and mgt wanted to see about doing 10G to the site…it would be a L3 connection and terminate on a Nexus 7010. I would just stack in a couple of non-e switches under the E switch for general use devices.

Yes as far as I know thats the onlything you will loose.

If you are to use the 10gig it for a dark fiber connection then I would go for the 3750X. atleast take a look at it.

Since you are to connect it to a nexus 7000 you should be able to utilise the 802.1AE standard encrypton for the link.
