Cisco and Ruggedcom Switch Interoperability in a ring topology

Good day,

We are about to commission 2 OT projects with the following switch architectures:

1. A 16-switch fiber ring that is made up of 2 Cisco IE4010 switches and 14 Ruggedcom RST916C. L3 IP services have been procured for both Cisco IE4010 and the network has around 7 VLANs and 5 VRFs for logical segmentation. Both Cisco IE4010 will have HSRP running between them to provide default gateway redundancy per VLAN.

2. A second project is similar to the above except for 2 exceptions - it is a 9-switch ring rather than 16 and the Ruggedcom switches are RS909R, not RS916C.

We plan to use Standard RSTP (802.1w) in the first project and HSR for the 2nd project as the L2 redundancy protocols.

Each network needs to support a plethora of OT protocols including IEC61850 MMS & GOOSE, MQTT, DNP3, Modbus, OCPP AND IT protocols such as Syslog, SNMP traps. Both network will also have a local AD and RADIUS servers running.

My question is

(a) Is this implementation feasible?
(b) What configuration should we use for the Cisco switches to ensure compatibility with the Ruggedcom for both RSTP and HSR?
(c) Are there any challenges we need to be aware of before we commence pre-commissioning?

All switches have been ordered. Thank you.
