Cisco-equip:cHsrpStateChange:

hemadri37
Level 1
Level 1

 Dear Memebers,

I had two cisco 4948 switches. Both are connected back to back  on Gi 1/2 and Gi 1/3 ports.

In Switch B i got complaint of cHsrpstatechange. when i logged in and checked in the switch i found following error in swicth B.

003545: Oct 6 13:07:36: %SPANTREE-5-ROOTCHANGE: Root Changed for vlan 103: New Root Port is Port-channel1. New Root Mac Address is 001e.4a37.2667
003546: Oct 6 13:07:36: %SPANTREE-5-ROOTCHANGE: Root Changed for vlan 103: New Root Port is Port-channel1. New Root Mac Address is 001e.4a37.2667

I didnot find any logs of hsrp state changes. but for vlan 103 i found the state is changed once that is Is not from active to standby but just flapped, but no logs.

Hello,

can you post the output of:

show hsrp detail

Are you using the default HSRP timers ?

Hi,

SW B#show standby
Vlan100 - Group 101
State is Standby
16 state changes, last state change 7y15w
Virtual IP address is 1XX.28.8.1
Active virtual MAC address is 0000.0c07.ac65
Local virtual MAC address is 0000.0c07.ac65 (v1 default)
Hello time 1 sec, hold time 2 sec
Next hello sent in 0.168 secs
Preemption enabled
Active router is 1XX.28.8.2, priority 105 (expires in 1.368 sec)
Standby router is local
Priority 100 (default 100)
Track interface GigabitEthernet1/48 state Up decrement 10
IP redundancy name is "hsrp-Vl100-101" (default)
Vlan101 - Group 102
State is Standby
270 state changes, last state change 3y1w
Virtual IP address is 1XX.28.10.252
Active virtual MAC address is 0000.0c07.ac66
Local virtual MAC address is 0000.0c07.ac66 (v1 default)
Hello time 1 sec, hold time 2 sec
Next hello sent in 0.164 secs
Preemption enabled
Active router is 1XX.28.10.253, priority 105 (expires in 1.460 sec)
Standby router is local
Priority 100 (default 100)
Track interface GigabitEthernet1/48 state Up decrement 10

There is no state change, so it looks like a bogus message. That said:

16 state changes, last state change 7y15w

I would schedule a reboot for both switches, as uptime is excessive...

Hi,

If we check for vlan 103 it is changing.

Please ref below it changed in last 05:35 hrs

Vlan103 - Group 104

Virtual IP address is 1XX.28.10.236
Active virtual MAC address is 0000.0c07.ac68
Local virtual MAC address is 0000.0c07.ac68 (v1 default)
Hello time 1 sec, hold time 2 sec
Next hello sent in 0.096 secs

Standby router is local
Priority 100 (default 100)
Track interface GigabitEthernet1/48 state Up decrement 10
IP redundancy name is "hsrp-Vl103-104" (default)

Thanks

Hi,

Have you verified if the stp configuration for the VLANs are proper configured, lowest Bridge priority should be on the Primary device.

Could you please share a

show spanning-tree vlan 103 root details

The same for Vlan 101 and 102.

Thank you
