Collapsed Core Redundancy

Our network design is based on the collapsed core network. Currently we only have 1 core/distribution and planning to add another one for redundancy. The core/distri is doing inter-vlan routing and also have some routed ports going to our firewall.

What I understand is I need to interconnect the 2 switch in L2 trunk port then configure the HSRP at the SVI's. Is this correct? Is there additional configuration I need to do on the firewall like a secondary route going to the secondary core/distri switch with higher administrative distance or should I also configure HSRP on the routed ports on both the switches?

Thanks!

Hello,

HSRP requires a layer 3 link between both switches, so yes, you can use the SVIs. That said, what switch models are those ? HSRP would be just basic redundancy, depending on what switches you have, you might also consider VSS, so both your switches function as one...
