Configure 6500 line cards before insertion?

Hi all, is it possible to configure the switchports on a 6500 linecard before it has been inserted?

So for example, I have a 6509 with slot 9 free. I'm going to install a 48 port line card. Is it possible to configure those 48 ports before the card is inserted?

I am afraid this is not possible. Configuration must be added after the new module is inserted.

Hi coppermine,

No additional configuration is necessary if you insert a new line card into a slot.
First of all you need to insert the line card into slot to get access on that, once the line card is activated then you can start configure as per your requirement.

As mentioned above you first need to insert the line card into slot to get your configurations hands on that.
