Ahhh yes... the good ole 1721. Great router no doubt. If you are not comfortable with IOS command line entry, then I would use Security Device Manager. You can download from Cisco free of charge and it work great!!
I would recommend not installing this on the router but on your client PC and then connecting to the router. First thing first, put a IP address on your Ethernet interface that matches your IP on your PC that will host SDM. For example:
router>en
router#conf t
router(conf t)#int eth0
router(config-int)ip address
router(config-int)exit
Now get the router ready for SDM with the following commands:
Config the server:
Router(config)# ip http server
Router(config)# ip http secure-server
Router(config)# ip http authentication local
Give yourself access or this will be a quick exercise in password recovery...
Router(config)# username privilege 15 password 0
Better turn on and config Telnet also, since we are here:
Router(config)# line vty 0 4
Router(config-line)# privilege level 15
Router(config-line)# login local
Router(config-line)# transport input telnet
Router(config-line)# exit
Now lets save it and roll on with SDM:
router#wr mem (or copy run start)
Now launch SDM and just follow the config guides and you are ready to connect to the World. The first website I would check out (just to test it of course) would be:
