CPU Utilization on routers

Our few ( 7 wan routers) of the MPLS WAN routers, CPU has been exceed more than  90% utilization , but it is normal with 2-4%.

Can anyone help on how can we investigate the root cause and how can we resolve to happen this in future.

what is the largest CPU hog?

show processes cpu sorted

Would also be nice if you can provide the output for the "sh version".

Try and do a "sh proc cpu history" to see when these CPU spikes occur.

Then try when the next spike occurs to see what is hogging the CPU with "show cpu sorted" and post the first page out here.

Does you "show logg" display anything funny?
