I just want to delete the current running config can't seem to find out the best command to do so. I DON'T want anything or any config files in flash to be deleted so I can reload saved configs.

Try "write erase".
If you reboot after issuing this command, all your config will be erased.
Then you can load config from flash.

"reload" command should work since running-config is only stored in RAM. Once the router reboots it will be gone.

When routers boots up, it will boot up from the Saved config or startup-config

Try "write erase".
